The collection includes correspondence, religious items, an invitation to attend a December 27, 1941 production of the Stars in Stripes at the Ohio Penitentiary, a copy of a list of condemned inmates on Death Row, dated September 23, 1938, and Ohio Penitentiary hospital death notices dating from 1938 and 1939. A list of the amount of foods used in preparing meals for 4,000 Ohio Penitentiary inmates also indicates rations, the average number of hospital or special diets cooked separately each day, the number of men used to prepare food daily, and the average number of meals served daily. Topics of notes taken during a lecture series offered to guards include religion, duties in public service, drug addiction, homosexuality, proper conduct of guards, psychology, insanity and symptoms of mental illness, crime and disorderly conduct, and safety rules. A copy of a duty roster for prison guards, notes taken for an investigation, poems by inmates and Miller, and Miller's state civil service employment application complete the collection.
